An acoustic ceiling is installed using a grid system of tees and runners that suspends acoustic ceiling tiles. The process involves marking the desired ceiling height, installing wall angles along the perimeter, and then suspending the grid using main and cross tees. 1. Plan and Prepare

Gather tools such as a laser level, drill, tape measure, chalk line, and pliers. 

Understand the system:

Acoustic ceilings use a grid system of main runners and cross tees to support the tiles. 

Acoustical Considerations:

Plan the layout of fixtures and diffusers to coordinate with the ceiling grid, ensuring no obstructions. 

Acclimatize Panels:

Store the acoustic panels in the installation space to allow them to acclimatize for at least 48 hours. 

2. Install the Perimeter and Support

Mark height: Use a laser or spirit level to mark the desired ceiling height on all walls. 

Install Wall Angles:

Attach the wall angle molding or shadow molding to the walls at the marked height, ensuring they are level. 

Suspend Main Runners:

Hang the main runners from the existing ceiling using galvanized binding wire and expansion bolts, ensuring they are level with the wall angles. 

3. Assemble the Grid 

• Position and Connect: Position the main runners and install cross tees by clicking them into the main runners to create the grid.
• Square the Grid: Ensure the grid is squared, as this is important for the final installation of the panels.

4. Install the Acoustic Panels 

• Place the Panels: Tilt the acoustic panels sideways and place them into the grid, adjusting the grid as needed.
• Install Border Panels: Measure and cut border panels to fit around the room’s edges.

5. Final Touches

• Coordinate Fixtures: Install recess lights or other fixtures, cutting openings in the panels as needed. 

Clean: Make sure all panels and the ceiling are dry and clean after installation.
